Figured out why the brake lights and running lights were on... When i pulled the column brake light switch popped out so brakelights on and te same problem persists with when mashin the brakes running lights come on.

When I switch from manual to auto to tilt to manual with no tilt I've always had to grind the plug on the column to make it work right but usually it was a ground wire on the plug not making contact.  But you problem has to be there

Mine would to but the contacts wouldn’t be touching right had to cut a half shape moon out of one end and a corner off the other and shorten it. Not saying it is your problem but kind of sounds like it

Is the manual column from the same year truck? Every couple / few years the pin positions are different in the plug on the column, the gage cluster, the bulk head side of the fuse box etc. etc. All the problems you are describing sound to me like this could be the problem? For example, I have seen someone change a gage cluster, and just plug in the one with a factory tach. and nothing works correctly. I myself have swapped in a different year column, and had to pull the contacts out of the plug and reposition them in order to make directionals etc. work.
