Can I get a second opinion on what this is?  My father and I seem to agree that it is a cone type mechanical locker, Just that neither of us have ever seen one.

My neighbor ( ex-jeep racer) seems to think its a detroit locker.  I need help, we just don't have enough experience to clearly id it.

Looks like a Gov-Loc to me.  Do you have an options list in your glove box?  G-80 is the RPO code...

How do I get the carrier out?  Pulled axle shafts already, removed main caps, but it only comes out like 1/4in at best.  Do I have to pull the pinion, i really don't want too unless I have to.

I heard somewhere that they are rebuildable, with better components.  Is this true? and where would I get a rebuild kit?

Newbie questions!  ???
So a Gov-Loc is a Factory eaton?
What can i expect from a setup like this? why would you have to build it up to make it better?

Make sure you set the preload and backlash when you put it back in.

Yessir will be resetting everything cause i'm changing ratios, upgrading to a 3.42.  Should I change the bearings too or not?  They are not very worn, just very lightly from normal use, it is a low mileage rear.  Planing to do a rear disk swap in the future, wanted to do it then if I can.

Eaton makes gov-lok thats the factory posi or limited slip.  I heard you could change the clutch material and get more positive engagement sooner, but I'm not sure where to get the stuff.
