I ran across an 86 K10 shortbed the other day (Very nice truck) I happen to notice that all along the inside of the door jams and Rockers, these tiny plastic plugs..On the center of them they just said "Zbart" The owner said that was a factory option to have the Truck "Zbarted" It's the first one I have seen.

Any one else heard of "Zbarting"

Zebart was a company that had shops about every where. You could take you car/truck to them and they would drill tiny holes in the doors and other select areas, and fill it with a rust proofing substance.  It was pretty expensive from what I remember, but worked pretty good.

I wonder if any of these companys still exist today? I agree on it working very well, The Truck was cherry! Minus a little surface rust in the Bed.

Cody, Thanks for the link. Looks like the nearest one to me is in Dayton Ohio. These Guy's do a little bit of everything.

My boss and good friend had his car done with Rusty Jones, basically the same thing, and didn't hold up...

Vile, How did the 80 C10 hold up? I just ordered Left and Right side 5pc kits from Chris, I was thinking of some kind of Rust proofing on the insides of all the parts. But I wonder how they would hold up when I start welding.

I have had several trucks over the years that have been Z barted, a few others that were done with other brands. They were all in better than average shape as far as rust goes.

My dad had an 83 celica he bought brand new and had it done. It was the only early 80's toyota I saw with hardly any rust. Once it hit 400,000 miles, it kinda fell apart though.

It held up pretty good except for where the rust was lol

I highly recommend that stuff I used on my 74

I don't think I'd spray my truck with anything called Rusty ::) I bought an 83 Scottsdale at Banner Chrevrolet in New Orleans and they offered the Z-Bart. I had it done. Got rid of it long before it ever rusted but I remeber the smell was pretty strong. Especially on hot days. Whew! Stout! Smelled like hot tar. Not too sexy.

As I remember Z-bart had a lifetime guarranty but only if you took it back to them every year for an anual inspection.
