Lower panel in between cab corners
« on: January 13, 2011, 12:50:18 pm »
Does anyone know if anyone makes a patch panel for the lower back part of the cab in between the cab corners for a 1977 c10?  Mine has some rust on it but if no one makes one I'll probably have to fab my own.

Real trucks are built, not bought Build thread

Give me a long enough lever and a place to stand, and I shall move the earth or break this bolt...Whatever, just hold my beer!

If there is much interest in the straight sheet metal section at the bottom 2 or 3 inches at the lower rear of the cab, I'd consider making them. The only real problem would be that there's a difference between the offset lip of OEM and different aftermarket cab corners. It might be possible to match them up with OEM and then the brand carried by Chris and make two versions. I'd guess I'd be able to do 4' sections to ship them at a reasonable price. Let me know on here if you would buy them and what a reasonable price would be to you and I might send Chris a message about doing them and selling them through his store.

I went to school for auto body so I'll probably just fab something but I'm surprised that no one makes a patch panel like that.  They seem to have every other lower panel except that one.  If they were reasonably priced and good quality I would consider buying one.

It's really just flat metal with a lip. On my 74 I removed the lip and made it flat all the way accross

It's just depends on how original you want your truck to look. It wouldn't be too hard to make but I could probably make them reasonably cheap if enough people wanted them. Honestly on my own truck, I just bent the lip at about a 20 degree angle and from above it's hard to tell the difference but it doesn't match up right with the lip on the cab corners. These trucks are becoming more collectible and there's probably more than few people who would rather it be right.
