Frame brace/strengthening
«
on:

Ive got an '82 Chevy K10, and I was thinking that this year I may want to make the frame a bit more rigid.
Does anyone know of any methods to do so, by either welding or bolting-on supports at certain spots on the frame?
Thanks.

The frame brace kit sold for the steering box area would be a good upgrade.

There are many things you can do however some frame flex is good and prevents unnecessary stress... What are you trying to achieve?

I agree with Vile, if it doesn't flex it will probably break easier. A bare frame with nothing on it is alot more flexible than you would think.
I would only brace it where they tend to crack where stuff is bolted on like the steering box.

Well frame flex is good in the right places but when GM & dodge went from the sector shaft coming out the side of the box to the bottom now these frame are failing from flex in this area not good so if your frame has not cracked yet a strut style brace will be best if you frame it cracked you could use a weld in plate type.
On my LB frame the frame is broke almost all the way around the box on my SB frame its good I'm going to make two struts that mount off the box bolts well good luck JM
