Swap question on am465
« on: March 01, 2011, 02:41:36 pm »
Will a sm465/np 208 from a 85 blazer bolt into a 77 k10 that had a sm 465 in it ?  I wanted to know if the linkage is the same as with the transfer case cross member, if it would be just a straight bolt in or not.  I searched but could not find an answer here, thanks in advance.   Tom

My guess is that the crossmember location, driveshaft lengths, and t-case shifter would be different, but not sure. Do you have the t-case shifter and the driveshafts from the np208 truck? Probably simple to do, but probably not a straight bolt in...

The 85 is complete, since the 77 got it all stolen I will have to get the shifters and mounts also.

The '85 should have a hydraulic clutch linkage the '77 is mechnical. It can be converted to hydraulic but would require some modifications. I guess it depends what parts you have. Do you have the linkage for the '77?

If the 85 is complete, you should have most everything you need for the swap. As near as I know, to keep the mechanical clutch setup you would just need to swap the front clutch housing/bell housing portion on the trans with a mechanical bellcrank style one. Hydraulic would be a good upgrade though if you have all the parts.

They took the fly wheel, bell housing, trans and trsnfr case, and all the linkage, so I will have to check into going hydraulic as an upgrade or find something else.  Thanks for the answer's.
