masking tape
« on: March 05, 2011, 04:13:30 am »

Ok guys another one for ya!

When my truck was at the alleged body shop, they masked several parts (for no real reason!) Then they left it outside.

My question is how the heck can you get it off quickly? It's a nightmare!!

Cheers

GOOD LUCK with that! It depends on what its on, and the quality of the tape. I have used razor blades on chrome and stainless before but it can scratch if your not really carefull. lacquer thinner softens it sometimes too.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

GOOF OFF  ;D   Works like a charm, I used it too get duck tape and gorrilla tape residue off before.  With a little bit of elbow grease, it all comes right off without damaging the painted surface.

Use a heat gun carefully!

+ 1 on Goof Off or Goo Gone to remove any of the tape residue.  The Heat gun would work to get the tape off initially.

Theres a chemical called peerco that is a gelatinous substance that would work well. Also another chemical called citrasafe which is a liquid that would work well is 100% organic. What I would use though is a plastic scraper like the blue or red one here http://www.jusntyme.com/products/scrapers.html. Also what about a razor blade if you got some steady hands/good sight?

I like goo gone after the heat gun as well. Be sure to follow up with a good car wash immediately after.
