Help needed please
« on: April 15, 2011, 08:41:26 am »
I have an 84 2wd shorty and was wondering what all I need to do to use a late 70's cab. I will be using a 90 suburban front clip too. I have found one in great shape for a cheap price and just want to know what i am up against. Should i hold out for a 81-87 cab? Thanks for any help!

I would get advice from someone who actually has done that swap or helped do one.  Capt, vile, or a couple of others would know if they would line up and bolt on.

You will have to cut the relief holes for the hinges if you are using a 73-80 cab.  the later ones will probably have less rust.

The older style hood hinges are mounted to the fender where the newer one are on the top of the firewall, if you search u can find tons of info about the switch. There will be some fabrication you will need to do, I believe the winndshield wipers are different since the older trucks had no cowl pannel.
