Check engine/Emission
« on: June 20, 2011, 09:39:07 pm »
Hi, i been having problems passing smog... i almost finish checking all the emission sensors, valves, hoses and putting back together the dash, since at the smog only wont even do smog cuz theres no light for the engine check...

i bough a code reader cuz i had this light on for few days, its giving me the 54 code, on the book it says " mixture control solenoid circuit" and on the book of the tester it says fuel pump circuit... can anyone please help me out, i have 1 more week till my tag expires,i also replace the catalytic and my mech. says the carb. its dumping fuel, so before i replace the cat. i took the carb. to have it check and it was fine, otherwise i would of wait cuz i know it will mess up my cat...

its there a way to test if the comp. its working fine?
For the trouble code im getting it seens that its either the mixture solenoid which i already checked and its fine, its reading 24ohms,i think it suppost to be between 20-35ohms.. so if thats fine on the book it says that either solenoid its bad or ECM..

been looking at the wires from the solenoid connector and found out that right where the plastic wire cover were ,the wires were like with no insulation,it almost looks like thats how it suppost to be,they both at the same lenght and theres also a 3 wire that it also connects to the solenoid but from the blue connector side... anyone has this type of carb or wiring like mine?

the 3 pic its the wiring of my brother truck, he got a 1986 chevy custom deluxe, hes carb. dont have that blue extra wires coming from the mixture control solenoid like mine...

The plug in the q-jet is the dual capacity accelerator pumps, it is activated by the CTS in the thremostat.  If the CTS is bad or unhooked it will be dumping fuel all the time.
