So my dad is getting my truck ready to get shipped up here to cali. with me. He says the alternator belt is whinning louder than my motor. belt is good and tight, belt is also new. I think its time for new pulleys, i have been havning problems with this in the past and breaking belts too. what do yall think

Is it the belt or the alternator or waterpump making the noise? Put some dry soap on the back and see if it stops.

used a little wd40 to see what would happen, dad says it still whinning. but i do want to replace that v belt pulleys for a serp. kit

V-belt sheaves get burnished from too much slipping of the V-belt. Once that sheave is burnished it is best to replace it.
Sheave / Pulley...I know I know...let's not go off on that tangent. You know what I am talking about...that round disk with the groove in it that once attached to a shaft or system of support becomes a pulley!

If you seperated the pully apart into two pieces you would have two sheaves...LOL
