There is NO way those flat top Pistons will give you 10:1 compression. And those pistons are cast, not forged.

As I mentioned earlier my pistons have a .100" dome and I am only at 9.3:1ish with the same heads you are using.

You are more in the 7.9:1 compression range. How do I know that? Because factory pistons for an 80s model 454 are flat tops.

You will be able to run 87 octane fuel all day long. Even towing heavy at sea level.

Engineer, it is a 1973 engine and 1973 heads, even with all that extensive head work and motor work , you believe I'll be at that compression?  Even at 8000 feet altitude with that octane fuel?  Yes they have a forged number on the pistons.........but..... The pistons are cast....... Unfortunately......     I wanted to post them up here to see what you thought....     Still looking for those correct mounts.... Any help finding them would be great ,.....

Tell me what you guys think..... 1982 1 ton dually 4x4 chevy flatbed with new 30k miles small block 350, manual trans (sm465) , 75,000 total miles approximately, driver door is tan, truck is white, single cab, headlight wiring issue.... Us Forest service truck, so it's seen some use , good clutch, no leaks, far as I know, drives great runs great , with toolbox , 10 foot bed, 7 foot wide?   2500 bucks.......

Guy who does fire mitigation for the ranch I store my wood on wants to sell it ,,, so I told him I'm very interested, so he is bringing it down next weekend .... I want to sell the 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 184k miles to buy this truck, as I need a bigger truck to haul more wood,,,, safer......

Guys.... I talked with front range camaro here in colorado , long story short, he says small block 350 mounts and brackets will bolt right up, because it's a heavy half ton, it doesn't have the ability to use big block mounts and brackets, even though Engineer says to use a certain part number, I have yet to be able to find it, I need the community's help and support on this, it's simple to some, but I want it done right the first time , this has turned into a bigger headache than what I imagined, please guys help me out here, this shouldn't be that difficult.... I call guys here in colorado and they tell me use small block stuff, big block parts won't bolt right up, then I have Engineer telling me a different thing. I believe him, to the t... But I can't find the parts, help me out here guys, I really want to get the motor in soon, and work my way from there to get it running.... Hey guys , is a Holley 830 double pumper 4 barrel carb going to run efficiently at 8000 feet?  Bored out 454 with heavy headwork......manual trans,. sm465,,,,  guys I am not a know it all, but need some major help, engineer, I know you already posted on this issue, have patience with me, help me find these parts, I'm at a utter standstill, stuck, no progress with this,,,, I want to be driving this truck, not stuck on this

Found motor mounts and brackets. Had them ordered in to a shop in denver colorado and they will be shipping out today or tomorrow. Expensive little pieces to the puzzle.... So hopefully soon the motor will finally be dropped in!  And then the truck will be towed to a driveline shop to have the driveshafts built. After that new tires will be added on along with offset rims to make it a dually since it already has a dually rear end . Making it a dually will stabilize the truck hailing loads being lifted. And I am going to post my truck bed I've worked so hard on sanding and painting etc in the classified section of the forum. Whenever the administration will reset my password, tapatalk is the only way I can post. I haven't logged into the chevy site in a long time because of this issue. I have decided to put a new flatbed on the truck and install tool boxes and a few other things underneath it.  And hopefully a hydraulic dump kit early this upcoming year. Still lots to do on the truck, hoping that soon enough it will be drive able.... I'm going to need a few suspension / steering parts up front on the truck, an alignment, need rock sliders and bumper / winch for front, and winch mounted at the head of the flatbed, I'm turning it into a full blown work truck. The dodge I'm driving is a 1500 with almost 200k miles of hard use and abuse, I have a serious need for a outfitted built to work truck. Anyways, hoping the chevy will be mostly Done by January 1st. We will just have to see, time is a major issue I'm working with, and funds too, it's going to cost quite a bit to get the truck to where I need it to be
