whats up guys ive been pretty inactive for the last few years here. been into other things. other cars, hobbies, life, ect. and havent been in the trucks much. i still have my 77 C10 but its in the garage on jackstands till who knows when

my buddy got this '79 about 4 years ago and i told him if he ever wanted to sell it, id be there with cash. so he buys an 08 f350 and says wanna buy the Chevy? i say yes sir. $1000 later its mine.

pretty much all there is to it.

it was running pretty bad it wouldnt idle would barely start and would pretty much just sputter its way down the road all the time lol he used it for towing here and there and as a beater truck basically. it was somebodys restoration project some years ago it had been sitting for quite awhile when he got it. the paints pretty good and the hood is the only major rust spot thats visible but look underneath and youll see some halfassed rust repairs. one of those looks good from far but far from good kinda jobs lol

i tinkered with it alot over the last few weeks and found numerous little issues and fixed just about all of them other than the timing still isnt just right and the motor/tranny/tcase mounts need replaced. spiffed it up a bit too its been fun ive got some more in store for it nothing major.

i HATED those fenders. so i got some mudlfaps from amazon put them on and cut the fenders off. much better now

i changed the exhaust up a bit. punched the cat out cut the ends off and welded it over a piece of pipe and made the exit at the corner of the toolbox instead of behind the rear tire

got a set of 33/12.50/15s and im getting a nice set of factory rally wheels with rings and centers from the guy i got the truck from

painted the headlight buckets and grill. put a new bowtie on the grill and shined up all the chrome

it needs some minor maintenance stuff. tranny pan gasket, front shocks, timing set, tcase mounts(doing them today), and im gunna tinker with a small handfull of other little stuff like the radio and i might end up removing the bed to install a rear sliding window then putting a removable center section in the window guard on the bed.

the tires that are on it now have good tread but they are dry rotting around the bead and the rear passenger side wheel is an odd one out of the 4. so im getting the rally wheels and mounting the 33s since it needs better tires to be safe and that odd wheel bugs the crap out of me

ive been into Hondas for the past 4 years or so its nice to get into something old again i miss these trucks

i could jiggle the transfer case by hand they were so bad. $25 later all brandy new

drove it roughly 200 miles on saturday. sat in a good bit of traffic and it never got over 180 degrees and it never missed a beat it idled perfectly the whole time and i drove it pretty hard to see how it would do.

about 5 miles from home started having a problem with the steering and found out the lower ball joint is shot. so im doing all 4 ball joints both front rotors and pads so itll be all done and right.

9 hours sunday, 4 monday, and 5 hours yesterday and all now all thats left is a brake caliper ordered today installing tomarrow.

did rotors that were so pitted they were grinding the pads down, pads, balljoints that were shot, u joints that were half seized, wheel bearing seals, and the last is a caliper that is so rusted it wont compress to get the pads over the rotor. its been quite a task but its been fun learning to do all this 4x4 stuff

the old tractor reverse light crapped out so i got a set of LED floodloights from northentool.com for $70. they are 1200 lumens each and work very nicely they came with all stainless hardware and are very sturdy

i wanted to mount them where the old light was but there was no room to get in there with a drill to make new holes so i used some aluminum for a mounting bar





 and bright





truck probably hadnt been washed in 5+ years. this is just washing the hood the sides were all built up with crud even worse


finally got the pushbar off my moms old truck and got it cleaned up with fine grade steel wool. it aint perfect but its much better than i was expecting





havent mounted it yet but will soon. im gunna get a nice set of lights to put on it too
