Need 454 TBI/serpentine belt help.
« on: June 02, 2014, 06:27:28 pm »
This is a pretty simple request.

Does anyone have a 1988~1992 Chevy C/K with a 454 with a serpentine belt that has the stamped steel brackets that can post a pic for me? The engines with aluminum brackets are different, and won't apply to my application.

I am adding a serpentine belt assembly off of a 1990 454 to my '77 project truck and I need pics of the bracketry to make sure I have all that I am supposed to have for a complete assembly. I bought this in a box so I didn't see it installed to know if it is all there.

The A/C pump on my set up has a cast bracket that bolts to the head. However, it seems there should be an additional bracket that braces the compressor to the intake or similar.

So, can anybody help a brother out?

Are you talking about a true serpentine system or just multi-rib vee-belt setup?  I have a 1991 TBI454, but it doesn't have a serpentine system, just multi-rib vee-belt.

I need pics of the full serpentine system.

My belt, pulleys, brackets, accessories, etc. are off of a C/K truck.

Thanks outlaw, but actually the way my brackets are arranged the tensioner is on the same bracket as the alternator.

It looks, in your photo, that the A/C compressor mounts farther away from the center of the engine than mine does.

However, do you have a photo of the back of the A/C compressor? That is where I suspect there is a brace that is missing from my set up.

Thanks for posting that Vile.

I found the A/C compressor bracket I was looking for. Part number 14103104. This works for the 1988~1990 model year. In 1991 GM used an improved bracing method that used two bars. Unfortunately the two bars need a threaded boss on the intake. My Holley Strip Dominator doesn't have this boss. I will probably use the 14103104 brace in conjunction with a brace that I liberated from a '93 small block.

Thanks to all who replied.

Also in my expansive search I found a guy who replaced the smog pump with a second alternator. Hmmmm.....
