th-350 gone bad

So it looks like a drum has gone bad in my transmission it is shifting erratically and down shifting way too soon until I lift off of the gas also sounds like something is rattling around inside of the transmission unless i t is in neutral modulator is connected and the kickdown is also connected . I talked to monster transmission. the good: transmission is under warranty and will be rebuilt with a stronger drum that they install In the monster ss and also send a new torque converter. The bad: I have to pay $250.00 for shipping supply new synthetic fluid $130.00 and my labor bought the HD transmission rated up to 400 hp so this wouldn't happen! 3 days to ship 3 days to rebuild 3 days to ship back to me. Their builder basically told me the forward drum is not much better than stock that they install in the trans also the weight of the truck and torque that my engine makes probably caused this not to forget I have 33 12.50 16.5 tires on the truck . in hind sight I would have spent the extra money for stronger parts in the stronger transmission this just sucks that my truck will be out of commission for over a week I'll post pictures of everything as soon as I start working on the truck

TH350's are getting hard to find. At leased running ones that is. Blew mine a month ago and finely opted for a used 1993 700R4 (4L60). Haven't installed it yet. (Still getting all the parts I need for a full swap.) So I don't know if it needs a rebuild. Hope not.

So it looks like a drum has gone bad in my transmission....
Bummer! Sorry to hear that. Sounds like they see drum failures often. At least the builder is standing behind their product with a n/c upgrade. Still not pleasant, though. Labor, consumables and shipping to R&R under aftermarket warranty are nearly always at the consumer's expense.

Sounds like they are making excuses. Your tire size and weight of the truck should hardly be an issue for a thoroughly rebuilt TH350. Why don't they just send you an exchange unit?
