Rear disk brakes from a camaro???
«

I just watched this youtube video
http://youtu.be/9RHV1SCw6Pg
.
He says that 1996 1998-2002 Camaro rear brakes con be swapped onto any gm 10 12 bolt rear end 8.2, 8.5, 8.6. Does anyone know if this is true. I have a 1986 C10 i want to put rear disc brakes on. I am also running 15" wheels will the rotor and caliper work with this size rim?

It will be a good and cheaper way to do it if it fits.

Hey thanks for that Captkaos. I just did not want to have to go to a larger wheel.
I will be upgrading to a posi and figure that this is a good time to do the disks.

I have a 2000 Camaro, and can tell you that it's a 5x5.5 lug pattern and they do fit under 15" wheels. Any 98-02 Camaro (v6, z28, ss) used the same rear brakes

A 2000 Camaro would be 5x4-3/4" bolt spacing.

I don't believe the Camaro backing plates will be a direct swap onto the truck rear, yes it is an 8.5 however the 4 bolts that hold the backing plate/caliper bracket has a larger, more square pattern. The stub of the housing sticking out for the bearing is also bigger from what I remember. They may fit with some grinding & slotting of holes, but they are not a direct fit like on the car applications.
The video info applies to many cars...a few exceptions would be some of the late '70-early '80's big cars with HD suspensions...they had the same as the truck. Lorne

If you buy the backing plates I posted you just need the rotors and calipers and hose...

What are you going to do about the different bolt pattern?
