Bolt in electric fans?

Just wondering if there are any bolt in electric fan units available?

i've seen the ones from Be Cool and that's a little too expensive for me. 

Any others?

The cavalier fan from the salvage yard doesn't work, so i'm looking for something new.

I'm using dual fans from a Ford Windstar.  With minimal work, it fits darn near perfect.

I wanted the engine to get up to temperature more quickly, and more adequately deal with stop-and-go traffic where there isn't much air flow. 

Could the stock setup have been fine?  Probably.  It had been for the previous 37 years.  But this was what I wanted, and my engine is no longer stock.

Fans driven off the front of the engine rob power, fuel mileage and put extra stress on your accessories. Ditching a stock fan for an electric one is always worth it. If done correctly, that is.

1) First thanks, but no ford parts on this truck.  i would sooner put Toyota or even Mopar parts on.  Or even go back to mechanical and shroud.   It's just a "thing" i have......

2) In my case, the 4.3 takes a special, much longer than a v-8, shroud (almost like a tunnel).  i forgot to claim it from the guy i bought the engine off of.  So i can't really run a mechanical fan right now AND i kind of want to run an electric anyways----you should see how much room i have underhood.  Will provide pictures ASAP.


3) BTW, the perma-cool drop in unit is slick and does bolt right in, but it's $680.   And that's just a little too much for me considering i only need it when sitting in traffic.

Have you tried late model Silverado fans? I don't know how the radiator compares size wise, but around here you can find them for cheap.

If it wasn't for your no ford parts rule I would suggest Taurus fans. They are 2 speed, and cheap. I've run them on rock crawlers before with good luck.

I am also running a Taurus fan. Using just the low speed it cools quickly. It looks like it belongs and it was very cheap.

I have an aftermarket radiator but the shroud I have comes in different variations. I bought thenhaden fans years ago and just added a Jegs fanshroud and it works great especially for the price. You may have to fab up a small bracket on each end but very simple!

You can build an electric fan fairly easily. I just made one out of aluminum but haven't cut the hole for the fan yet. once i get back on my 74 I'll post how that turned out. eBay has them relatively cheap now with either single or dual fans made to fit these applications.

I like the simplicity of the factory engine driven fan, but on my street/ strip car I use a stock 2009 Chevy HHR fan. Keeps 500 plus horse power small block at 180
