What are you going to be running for exhaust?  Manifolds or headers?  I am going to run headers, but trying to decide which LS conversion headers to go with.  I hear the Schoenfeld ones are really nice, but I don't want slip-fit collectors!

I'm running these Speed Engineering headers in 1 & 7/8". Great price and I've never heard a bad thing about them. It says they don't fit 4wd but I'm lifted so it won't be an issue

Slip fit also?!  Wonder why they do that?

Here is my thing...if I want to unbolt the exhaust from the headers and leave the entire exhaust in place, I can do that with regular 3-bolt flanges.  I don't think you can do that with slip fit?!

I'm lifted 8" and had doug thorley headers when the 454 was in my crew cab.

I am going to have flanges welded onto the ends of them when I get the exhaust done so I can do just that

Tricky, tricky!  I was wondering about doing that myself.  Are these SST headers, or are you going to be ruining the ceramic coating to weld the flanges on?

They're stainless steel, I'm going to have the shop do it for me so it should be okay

Well, got my pressure plate bolts (GM #12561465) finally so I could assembly the clutch together and slap the tranny on the motor and then try and fit it in the truck.

Unfortunately with the tranny/tcase in the factory location (so I can keep my driveshafts) my motor mounts are wayyyyyyyy off from where they need to be, even with the frame stands moved. So I gotta figure something out for them. But I did get the tranny mounted up and cut a hole in the floor for the shifter and checked it out, fits good! Sorry for the horrible blurry picture. Check out how clean the floor pans are!!!!

Dirty Dingo motor mounts fixed my mount situation, they worked great! It's finally all bolted in!! So, I'll get to keep the tranny in the stock th400 location and keep my stock driveshafts! I apparently threw out the coolant crossover hardlines that run under the intake so I can't​ put that on yet but I bought new crossover lines on eBay so the lines and the intake will get put on next weekend, which means I can start wiring! Also need to get the AN line and adapter fittings required to adapt the TBI fuel lines to the fuel rail on the motor!

The next big purchase is headers!

I just ordered the Schoenfeld 1302LS1 headers in mild steel and a set of V-band, interlocking clamps to go with them.  I know you got the Speed Engineering SST ones, and I would have liked to have SST headers, but I just have heard so much about how well the Schoenfelds fit that I couldn't pass them up.

I will be very interested to hear how your Speed Engineering ones fit.  I will do likewise!  BTW...what transmission are you going to run?  I hear that guys with the Speed Engr. headers have to cut an ear off of the 4L80e transmission to get them to fit right.

I'm running an NV4500. A guy on Facebook sent me these pictures of his Speed Engineering headers in his 4WD square so they should fit okay
