1987 v10 ignition

I have a 1987 v10 pickup with a 305 TBI it runs fine in park and neutral but in gear it runs a couple of seconds then quits, we eventually found out that the computer was pulling the timing too far advanced, when we pulled a certain wire to the distributor the timing went to 0 degrees and the idle came back down and it didn't stall in gear. Any Ideas of how to fix that problem?

Could be the IAC (idle air control), it screws in on the rear passenger side of the throttle body. The wire you disconnected is for setting the timing. Your timing is correct at 0 degrees with that wire unplugged IIRC.

Check the TBI base gasket and other areas for vacuum leaks, unplug the EGR hose and see if that makes a difference as well. Your timing isn't too far advanced, it's masking the underlying problem when bypassing the ESC.

We replaced the distributor and it solved all of are problems, we had checked for vacuum leaks multiple times and the egr isn't leaking, also we rebuilt the throttle body
