truck not getting gas

I have a 85 k15 and it stoped getting gas all of a sudden. Ive replaced the fuel pump and even blew through all of the fuel lines and still nothing. someone suggested i put a new cam in it because the old k10s are bad about wearing cam lopes but i wanted to get more information before i blow more money on a cam when i dont need one like i did with the fuel pump. the problem is not the carburetor because its not getting gas to the fuel filter. is it possible i put the fuel pump on wrong?

It's kind of complicated to install the pump correctly

It could be lots of stuff though
When you spin the engine over you should be able to feel the fuel pump moving air
It could be the filter sock in the tank clogged

Could be the lines  etc

Did you perform some engine work just prior to the symptoms?  Is there a bolt in the fuel pump pushrod retaining hole on the front of the block? 



The plated bolt in the image is threaded into a hole that penetrates the pushrod bore.  If the bolt in that hole is too long, it will bind the pushrod and prevent the fuel pump from pumping.  Otherwise for the symptoms to occur suddenly, I concur with Roundhouse.

If the fuel pump is installed correctly (it's hard to keep the push rod up). Try a short hose out of a jar or bowl with gas in it. If it works, it's a collapsed screen or fuel line (there is gas in the tank?). If it doesn't, the pump is bad or incorrectly installed. The fuel pump lobe on the cam doesn't usually go bad. The engine runs if you dump some gas in the carb?

You probably lost your prime. Artificially feed it some fuel and run it for a few.

well it was running fine until it started sputtering one day, i drove it for a week with it doing that until it got so bad it pulled the mountain 10mph all the way up. i was trying to fix it one day when it just give up and stopped cranking in all

If it gave trouble before you put the new parts on then it seems you need to looks elsewhere, I would check the line between the tank and the pump, friend of mine's chevelle rubbed a hole in a hose at the top of the tank, and it just started sputtering one day then died.

I couldn't see it leaking gas anywhere and they're not clogged cause I blew through them

Does it run if you dump some gas down the carb?

So is there fuel to the pump from the tank?
From the pump to the carb?

it is a vacuum based fuel system between the tank and the pump, more than likely it won't leak fuel

i think it would be vacuum based which would make sense why there is no leak. as for pouring gas into the carb we took it off and put it on another truck that needed it and i didnt think to try that. ill have to check if fuel is making it from the tank to the pump but im assuming that it's not

 i dont think you could have put the pump on wrong,and check your vacuum lines for cracks or fell off,also like mentioned the screen on the sending unit could be clogged with rust or deteriorated and sucked trash into it,also run a temp line into a gas jug as if coming from the tank and see if its pumping,if you have dual tanks try to switch over to the other one

Fuel should gravity feed from the tank once you establish flow.

Get yourself a cheap manual lever vac pump or siphon hose and connect to the fuel supply hose and see if you can draw fuel out of the tank first. ( don't want to tell you to such on the hose and get a mouthful of gas.)
