Relocating Parking Brake Cables Because of Exhaust?
« on: August 14, 2025, 01:38:51 pm »
Hey all,

So, I have a 1979 C-10, Bit Ten. Trying to finish up my LS Swap and I'm at the point where I can get the exhaust finished up.

The truck, of course, was originally a SBC 350, and the exhaust was in just a different place. My Exhaust runs just over or just under the parking brake cables and rods. I don't think 1/8" clearance is enough..... Have any of you relocated your Parking Brake gear to clear exhaust?

Thanks in advance,
Will in Chicago.
Be good, but not too good.

Yes. In fact the cable routing in 79 was pretty bad so modify it as you see fit as long as it works.

I had the same issue. Order all the 81-87 short bed parking brake cables and it will route on the drivers side frame rail. Out of the way of exhaust. I did have to make a bracket but you could find it at a junk yard although it’s riveted on the frame.
