Starter Dragging
« on: November 29, 2025, 12:22:49 pm »
The starter turns over good when engine is cold BUT after driving 20 - 30 minutes it drags bad and won't start until it cools down.

Do I just need a new starter?
If so, where would y'all get one?  Just local auto parts house?

I had this a few years back. Replaced starter and still had dragging. Replaced cables and solved problem. Cables were probably original, no way of knowing. Be sure battery is good also. Recommend getting AC Delco starter if you can. I also got a starter heat shield wrap just in case it may need it.

Dragging = sounds like the battery is run down but it's not, turning over very slowly (only with operating temp motor).

Thank you - I can try that.
