Gas gauge issues

'88 R30 Dual tank. Pollak valve.
Gauge will intermittently read the fuel level, and then go dead. While alive, it correctly reads the level of each tank, and switch the valve.
I have determined that the valve works without the gauge being operational. I think that rules out the switch.
I have cleaned the connection at the valve with DeoxIt.
Any thoughts on where the gremlin lives?

Well, maybe I've jumped the gun
Still have a question: If the relay has failed, wouldn't it still read one tank?
Let me analyze my own question: If the relay still moves the valve, has it failed? No
Both tank's sending units display accurately when she decides to wake up.
All other gauges work flawlessly.
Okay, flame away or please offer some guidance. TIA

Are you talking about your chatgpt relay that doesn't exist? Unplug and replug in the tank switch connector. Quick easy way to see if you just have a bad connection there. Very common for the tank switching valve to be the culprit. You will need to bust out your meter to confirm.

Thx VZ.
I did unplug it and cleaned it with DeoxIT. No change.
Common for the valve switch to go bad internally?

Do the same thing, check your connections at the valve and switch it, see what happens.
