Sr20? lol seriously that's fine and all in a tin can lil nissan but you're talking about a heavy truck and by the time you were done trying to fab that lil 4 banger in there you would have exceeded the $ fuel economy savings if there even was any

I've been thinking about possible combinations too.

And, i think i'm going to try the 4cylinder deactivation route----by taking the pushrods out of cyls 1,4,6, and 7.

I contemplated sleving down the cylinders or getting a remanufactured 262 (the one that was in the monza) but i think the cylinder deactivation plan is the cheapest way to go.

So, a 350 would be 175 CID and a 305 would be 153 CID.

We are looking at a 25%-35% increase in MPG.   I let you know how it goes.

Are you serious? lol - Cmon guys if you really want to getter better fuel economy buy a honda and drive that daily. When you want to use your truck use it as a truck.

You cannot simply remove the pushrods and expect your engine to last very long. The air in the cylinders needs to be pumped in and out for efficiency and prolonged life. The proper way to reduce fuel consumption with that type of idea would be to deactivate the fuel charge in those cylinders at cruising speeds. = Port fuel injection system

That wouldn't be a good idea, as Vile descibed.  If you were running a sequential EFI system and deactivated the spark and fuel it at x load it would be fine, but removing pushrods is not a good idea.

woo- i think if I'm gonna think about wanting 400 hp in my truck a nissan engine would be my last resort
I'm my opinion i buy these trucks because there American - built in America by Americans and i would never stick a jap 4 banger in one

 When I was in school for mechanics (DBCC Daytona) one of the classes did the deactivate thing on a 318 mopar. They removed the push rods and the plugs,And something with the carb,Can't quite remember. It was pretty loud though.
