You're probably talking around $650 bucks labor plus materials + tax just to do the rockers and cab corners without paint. Best bet though is to go get quotes.

Wow :o  Around here it is typically 200-300 a side for rockers and 100 bucks for a cab corner.  No paint included.

::) No surprise man. Local shops in the Lower Mainland want HUGE for anything except for plastic bumper replacements and simple re-shoots. That number doesn't surprise me at all. I'm sure some of the smaller shops (I'm trying to say that diplomatically) could do it for about 1/2 that.

Would recommend that you Butt-Weld any patch piece you do, as over lapping will give you a lip on the back side(Unless it is in an area that you can seal that lip someway), that will allow moisture to buildup there....  Overtime you will wind up redoing the repaired area again, generally it will be sooner than when it rotted out before....

I overlapped the old cab corners about 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch - same with the rocker panel.  You can do it!!  If you were quoted 2500 dollars, that would buy you a small welder, tools and patch panels and still have 1500 dollars left over.  Besides, think of all the knowledge you will gain - good luck.

Yeah, I thought about that too, but I'm an 18 year old with only 15 minutes of welding experience.  Plus, time is a factor.  My truck is a daily driver and if I started on one day it would need to be driveable the next.  It sounds like a fairly simple job but I've heard it's not.

Buy the welder and practice before you start on your truck. Listen to what these guys say and go slow. I didnt listen and went crazy with the sawzall and cutoff wheel and had to find another Cab.
