Thanks - Believe me I have been working my butt off on this project. Once I get this all done it'll be on to the suspension, fuel cell and then repaint the whole truck (hopefully for the last time)

Vile, how many times have you painted it?

Once. The truck was baby blue originally when I got it. I believe someone before me had it painted baby blue all the way because it was originally blue and I white if I remember. I painted it black but that was 10 years ago...

WOW, that is so nice.  Very very nice.  Do you do your own painting or does someone do it for you?  And, if you don't mind, how much does it cost?  Thanks

NOVA, I am currently painting my 86 c-10.  I am painting each piece off the frame before putting it back together.  So far in paint I have spent around 1200.00.  The cost is just not the price of the paint.  You have the epoxy (or acid etch primer) and catylist.  Then high build primer, for smooth panels and it's catylist.  Then the sealer coat with catylist (in my case it's reduced epoxy).  Then the price of base color paint with reducer (if using color coat and clear - single stage paint is a little cheaper).  Then the clear with it's catylist.  Then the equipment to spray it, tools to do body work and all the sand paper and elbow grease for the sand paper. ;D

Over all cost for tools, sandpaper and chemicals 3000.00 roughly.

All the experience gained in learning to do body work and paint - PRICELESS!! ;)

That's really not that bad.  You could spend way more for a quality paint job...and now you'll have the tools and the ability to do it.

Also, what size of air compressor do you use?

sorry, Vile, don't want to hijack this thread :)

Compressor size, 80 gallon, 7hp, two stage.  I think the "working" hp is 5hp.  I can put out 13.5 scfm at 90 psi, enough for my needs.  It runs constantly with my pressure (pot) sand blaster.  That's the only tool that taxes it.  If you need more info, PM me or we should start a new thread - I don't want to take from Vile what is his.

Don't worry about it...post away.

Then engine is back in it's nest and I'm redoing all of the wiring nice. Looking real good. I took the headers outside and scrubbed them down with acid and they actually came out good so I'm not going to bother re-coating them. If I get everything put back together tomorrow I may be able to fire it up!  ;D ;D ;D
