UPDATE:
i welded up the other side of the trucks drip rails screw holes and gave them a coat of USC all metal as well as finishing up a 1 x 1 inch patch in the cowl that was soft and weak in a area and did the other side on top of the cowl and got all that area in all metal as well as welded up the 3 screw holes that once held in the weatherstrip from the firewall to the fender. So thats all set and should have all of them in filler by sunday..

Hello all,
well friday (tomorrow) i`m going to go pick up a nasty 700r4 for 500.00 The guy said it was in his wifes 79 z28 w/ a 406 and said with the 3.08 gears it wasn't what they expected. So instead of changing rearend gears they swapped it out for a th350. So its got a hard shift that Will give ya something to talk about and its only got 250 miles on it.So i`m gonna get it and take some pics after.I got the firewall bad area all welded up and done, i got some more of my favorite stuff as well ALL METAL by USC. So that may be the weekend project if i don't get occupied on this wagon i`m trying to finish.I got the old metal dash removed so i`m gonna eventually get that other 1 welded in then coat the entire firewall inside and hopefully i can take pics of the progress.

thanks
pat
p.s. i also found a 454 2 bolt main for 200.00 so i`m gonna go for that as well as a 1984 corvette i found for 2500.00 but that may be after i get my parts back from the horse drawn wagon expert were dealing with, so its hectic but were managing to get it all done.

Nice score on the built 700R4. Sounds like a step backwards to me for the people who sold it to you: the TH350 will be even less snappy out of the hole with the taller 1st gear. Good deal for you!

The owner said his wife has no clue what she has under the hood of her 79 z28. He has a 5,000 dollar 406 shortblock and a set of trickflow heads. He said the tranny with the gears was to much on the highway so he rather swap out the tranny instead of gears so he yanked the 700r4 and put in a th350.I was like SCHAWING score i got 3.73 gears so it`ll work well with a big block.I was gonna go for the 454 but i got the 402 i`m gonna do and the vette is still looking good.

thanks
pat

p.s. UPDATE!!!!!!!!! I may have a lead on a 540 hp 454 big block for 800.00 if it is true (which i`m praying it is) i`m gonna go for it and get it, then i got 1300.00 into the drivetrain and it cost less then a rotating assembly for my 402 .So i`ll keep you all up to date..  ;D

Well i wanted it but i got some info on the motor that its a bone stock bottom end with a hopped up top end, the heads are rectangular ports and he is going by numbers from a site based on what he has but it doesnt actually have the numbers so i would have a eery feeling on it and would have to totally tear it down and redo it and find out it needs work.I rather start off with a block and build it and knowing what i actually have rather then going by what someone said.

thanks
pat

turkey rod run in daytona intl speedway is comming up so i`m gonna go find a crank for the block i got so looks like were gonna go the 402 route again.

Well on to some good news, my steering column came back today from being rebuilt and man it looks great!!!
Also i found a forged steel crank for my big block for 200.00 so i`m gonna piece this big block 1 puzzle piece at a time. But if you need your steering column rebuilt this guy is the 1 to see in the link below.I paid 50.00 for this column out of a junkyard 82 gmc sierra 4x4 and it is what i was looking for as far as a non cruise control tilt. But happy days are here today.
thanks

That's who I used... A+

I bought one outright, since my column was all busted up and had no keys anyway.

If you got a tilt laying around and like to have it rebuilt he is definately the guy to deal with.I wouldve bought 1 on ebay but i got no history on it as far as repairs and if its tight but original. This 1 is totally rebuilt and all set to go with the wiring harness, it was in rough shape but wayne knows his stuff when it comes to gm columns.

thanks

Well i got bored last night and i bee nwanting to do this. The bracket pieces thats spot welded to the firewall for the brake booster. I trimmed off al lthe excess junk around the edges and i got a litltle bit of welding to do and friday i`m sending more pieces to the powdercoater but mainly pieces for my mothers horse drawn wagon that i`m getting close to finishing.Thank God cause it be time enough to get my 4 post lift in the corner of my shop.I  figured its either repaint my dodge truck or buy a lift.Well i cant do much with a new paint job but can do a lot with a lift so the price is around even so i went with the lift.I figured its a small gift to myself as well as a early b-day gift as well. But here are the pics of that plate i trimmed and gonna have powdercoated gloss black since the firewall will be the color of the truck.

and heres my lift:

thanks
pat

UPDATE!!!!!
I paid off my big block crankshaft so i`m that much further ahead, i need to get my dodge repainted so i may take some time off from the truck here. It be a wise thing maybe.
