Making a tilt frontend?

Has anyone ever fabriated a tilt front end for their Blazer?

I've purchased a mint condition 73 Front Clip for my 73 Blazer and was wondering if anyone has ever done this or if by chance someone might actually have a kit for this?

You mean like the hood, fenders, and front end all tilt forward for engine bay access? that sounds pretty wicked

US Body Source makes one for these trucks already.  I am using one on my current truck and the finish is great.  I highly recommend them.  I am going to get another one for my other truck.

I did one a on a 54 Chevy 2 door sedan years ago. I removed the inner fenders and motor was out. I then closed the hood, drilled holes from inside the hood and fenders. I put spacers in between the fender and hood, then bolted them together. Then I cut the lower rear section off the fender, made filler pieces with tabs to bolt through the fire wall.  Made some bracing out of 1/2 inch round stock for the cut area of the fender and welded it into the fenders. Then I made up some hinges from tubing, drilled and tapped them for grease fittings.

I don't want to sound negative, but may I ask why? You have an awesome looking Blazer, and finding clean sheetmetal for 73-80 GM's is getting harder to do all the time.

What is your motivation to add a tilt front end?

it has been about 4 months, but in case you're still interested, here is an interesting site i came across.

He also has made a tilt front end out of stock sheetmetal.

But if the truck is in mint condition, and it appears that it is, why would you want a tilt front end?

Mike no longer has the Blazer.  it was wrecked and he sold it.   He does have a new truck though.

Shed no tears, the guy I sold the 2-wheel drive Blazer to is fixing it up and it will be back on the road soon.  He has about 5 full convertible Blazer's and is a real Blazer Nut.  Unfortunately he doesn't get on the Internet at all.

Mashed in the front clip, frame and doors back are okay.  I picked up a viring front clip for it and included it and a new hood in the deal.  The floor boards are completely rusted out on both sides and that was more than I wanted to tackle.  My little boy turns 9 on Valentines Day and he's all excited to ride around in a Monster Truck.

i would like to re-examine this topic if possible, because i think it's important---to me at least.

Has anyone tried using the medium duty front clip on a pickup?  This, in some cases, is a one-piece tilt assembly.
