I think we were trying to get the lock released by leaving the cylinder in and twisting it while pushing the button.  Since you removed it that is going to be harder as you will need 2 people now.

can you get any heat to the bit the rods stuck in? gently warm outside so it expands that tiny bit?

capt, I am not worried about the lock cylinder. i am worried that the whole door will not open' nor the lock rod that goes up on the door panel will move at all.

I understand, but you can't push the button and pull the rod if they are blocking each other without someone on the inside and outside.  (unless the inside handle will unbind it)

You need to actuate both the outside and inside release levers a few times. Then try turning the lock cylinder. A lot of the older ones would stick so you couldn't unlock it if you didn't.
