Brake Issues
« on: January 23, 2008, 05:46:01 pm »
Well the cold weather is back. Here in Ellensburg it's been in the single digits for the last 3 days and I've noticed a problem with my brakes. Sometimes when I am stopped and holding the brake pedal it will slowly go to the floor and the brakes will let go. It doesn't do it very often, but enough to worry me about running into a parked car or something. The fluid level is fine but looks a little dark, and I've checked the calipers and drums for leaks and found nothing. So, what could be the problem? I don't think the booster is losing vacuum, I've checked the connection. Maybe a master cylinder? I want to add disc brakes in the spring so if I could hold off on a master cylinder until then it would be great. By the way it's a '76 K20 thanks again.

It sounds like your master cylinder. If the power booster went out your brakes would be hard.

Yep, If you have no external leaks replace the Master Cylinder

Right on I love it when I get answers so quick thanks guys. I'll just get a cheapo one from Autozone for now because i'm going to use a disc/disc one in the spring. Thanks again.
