Thanks guys. If you notice the lip along the bottom is gone. I cut the whole tunnel section out and made a new one to remove that annoying lip. The whole firewall is smooth now and I just have to block it, dial in around the booster, poke a few small holes (throttle cable, parking brake bracket) Other than that it was a lot of work but will be worth it. I think the factory firewall clutter just made the whole engine compartment ugly. I am debating on smoothing the inside of the fenders as well. Has anyone seen anyone do this to one of our trucks?

good point I had missed the bottom lip around there, but yea I've seen pics online of the smooth inner fenders, very worth it IMO, I think it looks great just like the firewall does. I can't remember right off but I thought on here maybe on 67-72chevytrucks is where I saw the smooth inner fenders. I know it looked like they just coverd over the whole thing with metal, then I guess metal worked the edges and called it quits. if I can find the link to the pics I'll post it for you.

Yeah I'd like to see some pics. I smoothed the "inner fenders" already just considering the inside of the fenders...

Ken, N2TRUX did this on his 82 Blazer that he sold.  I think I may have some pics here somewhere.  Don't think he would mind since he sold it...

I know, he doesn't have it anymore so...
You are talking about filling the hole above the inner liner right?

yea that's what I meant by inner fenders, the backside of the main fender, not the tubs.

I found some pics but not the ones I was thinking of...

LOL so I found pics for him, but in the process found that exact pics you were talking about or looking for huh cap, sounds good lol two birds with one stone almost.

I wished I could find the ones I know I saw, one I think welded squares in the square holes, and made them flush, the other plated over the whole area with polished aluminum I think, it was shiney metal for sure.

Thanks! Firewall is almost done. Finishing up passenger side rocker/cab corner. Going to flip the cab on it's back and make the underside look just as good as the topside  ;D
