SEATS and brackets????
« on: February 09, 2008, 10:16:53 am »
Curious to know what everyone is using for seats and mounting brackets (other than stock bench seats). I'm wanting to put buckets and some sort of smaller/fold up style center seat. I'm planning to run a B&M Pro Stick shifter and will likely build some sort of center console so the shifter isn't a mile away when I need to shift. Hate to reach way down and I think it'll look crappy.
If anyone has any pics of their setup, please post them.

Thanks !

They look good !
I'd probably have to make sliding brackets for the stereo equipment I plan to install.
Thanx for your input !!!!

In my opinion nothing fits better than a replacement aftermarket seat if you want a matching center although I am going to fabricate a set of Saturn seats that I have that are brand new into my next project to see how they look. I will post pix when I do it. Here's the one I put in my 85

Funny you mention SATURN....I'm a parts manager for the one here in Austin, Tx. (off the subject a little)- I used some of the exhaust that was prebent from the Sky Turbo to make my system since I don't have a pipe bender. I used two systems (customers that upgrade to the performance exhaust and intake package leave their o.e. exhaust behind--it would normally be scrapped. So, I cut the pipe and made it work. Anything to help save $$$$. You may have seen it elsewhere on this site.
Back to the topic- which seats are you going to use? Do you know what they're from (which Saturn)?
I like what you have in your truck. They look good. My plan is to probably build a center console to mount the shifter to so it's easy to reach as well as possibly mount stereo equipment and an e-brake handle.

I've seen alot of the newer style like you have but finding them is next to impossible unless you want to drop some serious coin.

The Saturn I have is a 2000 L series. It was a cutaway showroom car that i got but at this point the car has outlived it's usefullness so I'm gutting it.

Heres the 99-02 seats I put in my 76.

Had to mount them stationary. I think the 03 and up seats are about a inch smaller.
To make the sliders work you would have to hack your floor unless you have a blazer or burb because they have flat floors.

I never took pictures, but I put a set of mid 80s Dodge Caravan seats in a buddy of mines truck. Made brackets and mounted a Blazer center console in the center.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Leather buckets from a Jeep Cherokee and jump seat from an F100 I believe.
I made custom brackets and they're bolted in with the original bolt holes. ( 2 per seat only) :o

I've got a set from an 02' dually power and all with center console for $200 I got them sittin' in the garage and keep looking at them to see how I can get them in I thought about trying to change the floor section to that of a blazer but I don't want to chop it up cause I would have to move the fuel tank also to much trouble I also like them because they have the seatbelts built in I'll get some pics when I start to tear into them.
