truck smoking

This happen about 2 mouths ago i was taking my truck to get it inspected and some one was in front of me and they said thay could not even see my truck what could be the problem. my heads where full of oil so i stuck a screw driver in the holes and it went back down i thank that helped a little.So i need to know if this would be worth fixing right now because i am planing to rebuild another motor i have

well today i took it around the block and it was smoking again i don't know what it is it is coming out the tailpipes

blue smoke, white smoke, purple smoke (oh, I 'm getting carried away)??
Check your oil to ensure there is no antifreeze getting in the oil pan.  YOu should be able to tell on your dipstick.  If so, you either have a head gasket problem or you have a crack in the block/head etc...

You can do a compression test on each cylinder--if it is blue smoke, you may have a valve seal messing up--or a broken ring on a piston.  I broke a piston ring one time on an engine I rebuilt when I was 16 (I didn't spend the money to bore it out correctly--I just honed it out)  and smoke was EVERYWHERE!  It did last a couple of years when money was hard to come by

white?  check your dipstick as I mentioned earlier, for signs of H2O or antifreeze.

If it's white smoke it's coolant or automatic transmission fluid.

Starting with the cheapest fix:

If you have a TH40 or TH350, take off the vacuum hose at the modulator (side of the transmission) and see if any fluid is getting to the engine.

If that's not it, then you have coolant leak to the combustion chamber

I remember this but wasnt there something about putting some oil in the cylinder and the recheck the compresion and if it goes up its one thing and if not the other ? (Valve seal or ring)
