« on: June 19, 2008, 10:17:45 am »
Anyone have opinions or experiences about this thumpr cam from comp cams?

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CCA%2DK11%2D600%2D8&autoview=sku

specs from comp cams site:
http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/CamDetails.aspx?csid=485&sb=2

Will it work well with a lwb fleet side ~5500lbs th400 3.42 rear?

Generally speaking, those Thumper cams are pretty expensive for what benefit I'm not sure. Perhaps they are only roller cams. I think you can get the same everything for less, even within the CompCams catalogue. Look at their Xtreme Energy or XE4x4 lines to compare.

comp cams had this audio: http://www.compcams.com/Base/MultiMedia/SoundBytes/Thumpr/Thumpr.wma

I was looking for a roller since I still have an annoying valve train tap even after replacing liters and checking for bent push rods and adjusting.

I will definately try adjustment again before I buy anything. But if it turns out to be a rounded lobe, I will go with a roller.

Yeah, I see your point after playing with comp cams's little desktop simulator/cam picker app.

There are better cam grinds, thanks for the input.

from my experience, the thumpr cams are for sound only.
I tried a thumpr in my old s10 with a 355 in it..not impressed.
