Front or rear?  The front you pull the locking strip out and then roll the glass out.  You shouldn't need a wire if it has never been removed.

Same way for the rear glass, if it has never been out.

If it has butyl sealant and you are not reusing the gaskets, then cut the rubber with a stout blade. Hold the blade along/against the glass and cut under the lip. Be careful!

the windshield had no glue or sealant from the factory. Vile had quoted a document recently that butyl be used for new installs to keep the glass from poping out.

if the stuff that's in there is still gooey, then it is most likely butyl. ought to come out without cutting or string, start in the corner with firm steady pressure pushing from the inside.

Did you remove that middle seal? You need to remove that seal in the center before you can take the windshield out. It should come out with ease just push harder and it should come out, if your gonna go full resto then dont be bashful if you crack it your gonna want to put a new 1 in anyways.

thanks

ok i got it i cut part of the gasket so i could get it out better and i did crack it in some places but i am going to get a new anyway and all i had was a razer blade and a screw driver and my two hands besides that it was my frist time so that makes up for the sloppy job ;D but i was right it was rusty so i am glad that i took it out.

is there supposed to be a hole in this area it is on the left

Are you talking about the drain hole for the glass?

yes, there should be one on each side.  If they aren't cleaned out, the whole area could be rotted.

Thats what happened to my 1st  cab,
the p/o had the windshield replaced and they plugged up them holes with silicone and it rotted the entire lower portion under the windshield.I had to totally rebuild it and it was ok but the cab needed replacing so make sure them holes ALWAYS stay clear.

thanks
