Bedliner

Just finished my bedliner.  I used this off ebay - two part mixture with added rubber.  Worked VERY well!!  I would definately recommend.  Very messy job though.

The bedliner kit came in four parts.

2 Gallons Bedliner
2 Quarts activator
2 Quarts reducer
2 Half gallon size ziplock baggies with ground rubber
a "shutz" type spraying gun.

You are suppose to mix 1 gallon bedliner with 1 quart activator, 1 quart reducer and 1 bag of rubber (the rubber is optional).  But being my first time, I mixed half that amount at the beginning.  I wanted to see how the gun sprayed it.  Once mixed you have about 20 minutes to spray before it becomes to thick to spray.  You use the empty quart sized reducer can on the Shutz gun.

Once mixed, it sprays awesome.  Spray just enough to cover the paint - do not worry about thickness on the first coat.  Cover the entire bed and the tailgate with one coat.  Half the mix covered about 3/4 of the bed with a light covering coat.  So I mixed the second half.  Finished with the first coat then sprayed the tape lines along the edge to build the edge thickness(like lineX does). I put a light second coat on the sides and used up the rest of the second batch.  I went ahead and mixed the whole gallon on the third batch.  Sprayed a heavy coat on the bed floor and tailgate.  Still had about 1/2 gallon left - but I was done.  Boy was I a mess.  To ease cleanup, I cleaned the spraygun with Laquor (sp) thinner and just threw away all my mixing buckets and empty cans.  I then untaped everything (don't leave the tape - remove after cleanup).  Used laquor thinner to clean any product off the paint (very little was there) and was done.  I backed it into the garage/shop to initially set 4-5 hours, then moved it out into the sun to help dry.  That's it.

80 and 180

I had an 80 grit cup sander that I used on my grinder and finished with 180 in areas that I couldn't get with the 80.  The kit calls for 180.  Thanks for asking.

The liner on this thread looks great. I had done a couple Line-X liners in the past...which I was happy with. Recently though, I got a quote to do my 82 SWB...and they wanted $500! oy. I recently purchased the Herculiner...and will post pics when done.
