removing front axle housing

I am having a new ring and pinion put in the front axle housing on my truck and the guy that is doing the work i need to take the housing out of the truck and bring it to the shop.Thats not a problem but my question is how much does this front axle housing wiegh and are there any tricks to get this thing loaded and unloaded at the shop without killing myself?

Why can't they install it in the truck? Two guys can handle moving it around. You're looking at about 200-250 pounds I would guess

Yeah I would find someone else that can do it in the truck. I have never heard of anyone not doing them in the truck, except for a reman company! That don't make no sense taking it out. Allot of extra work, plus the cost of new u bolts ::) ::)

Around here, they charge less if it is NOT in the truck. I guess because an axle takes up less space and you have a immovable vehicle sitting there.

Yank the axle shafts out and the truck is 100% moveable. Just a 2wd with a solid axle up front!

I don't think any shop will pull it down and reinstall everything just to move it around during the time they are setting up the ring gears..

It shouldn't take a decent guy more than 4-5 hours to set the whole thing up in the truck.

I know a guy that does it in about 2 hours.
 Why would you spend 2 or 3 hours taking it out, then however long it takes to load and drive it to the shop. Then wait a few days, go pick it up along with new u bolts, then spend  2 to 5 hours reinstalling it?
