fiberglass hood

Just need alittle help, the hood came with the truck but I notice when I open the hood the springs are gone so I have to hold the hood up with a stick. Is there a reason not to use the springs with the fiberglass hood?

Most are too flimsy to handle compressing the springs. I plan on putting the little hydraulic shocks used on newer cars and hatchbacks to hold mine up. For now, just a prop rod.

I was thinking that was the problem just need to hear it from someone else. let me know about that little hydraulic shock

you need low tension springs or a prop rod. Just another reason why fiberglass is a pita. What year is your truck?

What I have seen people do in the past is drill a hole through both sides of the hing while the springs are still attached then remove the springs. When you raise the hood you then place a pin or bolt through the hole. So much easier and safer than dragging a prop rod around.

79' any idea or part# for the low tension spring?
