I am NOT an electronics wizard.  I found the post I showed you and I just pulled the car stereo and removed the cover.  That was easy.

Then I noticed that mine looked exactly like the one in the post, so all the wires were in the same place.  All I had to do was locate the GREEN and ORANGE wires that go from the pot to the amp.  That was easy.

Then all I had to do was clip them and solder the input inline with them.  That was easy.

I am pretty sure if I can do it, a monkey with a soldering iron could too.   ;D

OR... if you don't want to do all the work, you could just hook up a wired FM modulator.  All you have to do with it is plug it in where your antenna goes, then plug the antenna wire into it and feed it power.

Installed and working great.  Here is the Aux in mount in the ashtray area.

Thanks!  Next project... building a tray that will slip in place of the ashtray for holding devices, with a switched power port.

I can catch him on am 1360 at 3pm "the talk of connecticut", they have the "listen live" feature. However, when my iphone goes into the sleep mode i have to reset back to home screen and it starts to play again. He doesnt have his own app, nor does his website have the listen live feature. I'm working on other ideas.

Here's a question - my 77 has the original radio set-up, fm stations come in awesome. But not one am station. My wifes 2014 nissan (or any new car) is right next to my truck in the driveway and she gets every am station crystal clear. Why??!!!!

Is there some kind of am converter or booster or something??

i did just get one of these a few days ago. rough wired it in to test it and i do love it the only problem i have is the on off switch i dont want to drill a hole that big so im just going to replace the switch with a rocker switch. now i get to listen to google play on the way to work on the radio. dont know how it will act when i get a phone call, i dont talk on the phone while driving but i dont want it to blow my ears out when it rings (if it even works like that)

This thread has inspired me to upgrade my radio too.  When I got the truck about 13 years ago from my aunt, it had an AM only in it with a single dash speaker in the center.  Back then, I found a "vintage" NOS RCA cassette deck on eBay and installed it with one of the "stereo" replacement speakers for the dash from "the company that shall not be named".  I had forgotten how much of a pain these radios are to get in/out.

I'm going with the Retrosound Model 2 with Bluetooth, etc. I have the radio mounted, but still have to hook it all up.  Got some 6x9 cab corner speaker brackets in yesterday, and have a couple of better 3 1/2" speakers coming (tomorrow hopefully) to replace the two in the dash.  Picked up what appears to be a decent pair of Pioneer 6x9's at Best Buy this weekend for the corner brackets. This should be much better than what I've had all these years...we shall see. :)

ok i got the Bluetooth hooked up and everything runs fine. every now and then the Bluetooth will get a crappy connection to my phone but reset the connection it works good. then if i get a call it plays threw the truck speakers and i can talk back and she could hear me fine. i do have a issue when charging. it seams it doesnt want to work with a charger hooked up, might be a safety feature so it doesnt overheat. but it does hold a charge for a good amount of time, charged it for a day when i first got it then havnt since. been using it pretty much everyday
