here the exhaust shop prices aint bad. We don't have a welder or even a bender but I got my duals all bent and welded and mufflers for $250, they supplied everything. They also gutted me 2 cats and supplied those and welded them in place. We had 2 pieces bent and welded for about $35 I think before.

I figured we'd need something bent to lift one or both over the trans crossmember.

BOWTIEGUY, I love it! Kind of a sleeper...........

What wheels are in the video? Ar they Chevelle/Vette style Ralleys?
They look good on there! If I didn't have clearance issues with my drop spindles, I'd run those. I have to run a wheel bigger than 15 inch though.

Thanks for the compliment!  I can't wait to get it roughed up and painted!

Ya they are standard looking Chevelle/Vet rallies.  They are a 5 on 5 bolt patern though.  I assume they are aftermarket.  I got them on a 72 C-10 I bought about 10 years ago.  I love em, don't see to many 1/2ton's with these wheels, and there are so many center caps you can use.

If you need bigger, they do offer the old looking Rallies in 17 and bigger.

So Im getting bored with engine work, and tinkering around with the fenders now.  About 8 years ago, I had a guy put rockers and corners in it when he painted it.  At that time I purchased a knock off cheapo fender. I find out just tonight that, the guy actually made the bottom lip of the rocker match the cheapo fender.  I found a rust free GM fender few years back, and finally getting around to getting it on there.  Well, see what I am up against now.....  now what?  OH and pardon my freakin mess, I get to be a slob when I have a project going!  ::)

That's looking really good. If you don't mind me asking how much you pay for the engine and tranny?

Can I make one small suggestion?  I notice you have an Edelbrock -6AN inline fuel filter.  You should know that filter is only rated to 40 micron, which may allow enough particles into your fuel rails to clog your fuel injectors over time.  Most new OEM filters are finer than that.  If you would like to replace it with another inline filter, I would suggest a Golan filter. They are the same style (washable stainless steel disc), but have are a 10 micron rated filter.  Here's the link: Golan filters (scroll about 60% down the page to where it says large filter)

BTW, I'm really jealous.  I came close to swapping an LQ9/4L80E into my truck, and now I wish I had.  Very nice job.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I think I am going to use this filter as a post filter.  I want to add a Gen III truck filter under the truck soon.  It is on my list of things to do, but the Edelbrock filter works for now.  But yes I agree totally!  And I like that filter you showed me!  Might consider it!

Well it finally left the Garage for a little jog today.  Drove about 50 miles, ran like a top, didn't miss a beat!  Plenty of power!  Im in love!  we just bought an 08 Crew Cab short bed Z-71 1500, and I'll bet I know what I will be driving to work Monday morning! LOL  I kinda want to run out and drive it around the block right now!  I need to post some pictures, its Flat Black now.  I totally burnt my self out on body work.  So, its flat black for the rest of this year!

wow man, i love that project!  this makes me wanna swap a 5.3 into my '83.  i have always loved mixing new/old, and this would be a nice way to do it.  post new pics, we'd love to see it again!

BTW, what did you ever do about the mismatched body line?

Thanks for the compliment!

I drilled out the spot welds, and cut a slit in the rocker up to the drain plug.  Took a 2x4 and beat it down some.  I raised the door a little and brought the fender up some too.  It helped, its not perfect, but its not so noticable.

Great project, Bowtieguy. I hope you get rejuvinated soon and lay the paint on it. I think we're all wanting to get to the junkyard and scout around for a 5.3. :D
