Ok, I spoke with a Painless tech and he seems to think that the neutral safety switch is trying to energize without a signal from the Dakota Digital module.  He says, since I didn't blow any fuses or see any smoke  :o when I initially tested the system to go ahead and hook it to the battery and see if that solves the problem.

Also, I didn't have the entire fuse panel powered up.  I was missing an entire power leg to the fuse box.  The wire numbered 915 from the alternator need to be hooked to the battery charger also because it also supplies power for the fuses - I was only powering wire 916 - Go figure :D

Not really  :) - I want to get the Dakota Digital dash working so I have working gauges.  Then fill the crankcase with oil and prime the motor using an old distributor shaft and drill, so I can verify oil pressure...Then, if everything checks out - maybe this weekend ;D

Another question - is the front side marker lights suppose to flash with the flasher or turn signals?

Yep, the marker lights do not flash, they are just on when the parking lights are on.

The wiring is WORKING!!!!!! ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

I connected the battery and finished wiring up wire 915 and turned her on - no clicking, the Dakota Digital dash turned on and WOW.  Everything programed properly with the dash.

The marker lights were not working - found out they were just blown bulbs  :D  I was pulling my hair out trying to figure what was wrong.  I still need to test them to see if they blink or not.

Horn is only working intermittently.  Once I unlock the steering column it stops working.  Can someone tell me how the horn works in the column.  I'm thinking of installing a rebuilt column (I got sand in it when I was sandblasting rust from my body repair areas (I even covered the column, but sand found it's way into it).

Other than that I should try and fire her up this weekend - if weather cooperates.

Update as of 3-20-08.  Put down some sound deadener - duct wrap that I bought from Lowes :D

Glued it down with 3M adhesive #77.

Engine compartment finished - waiting for warmer weather to start

If you see anything out of place - please let me know.

Front grille with new trim and bumper (I do not like the aftermarket trim - may look for GM stock Trim).

That's it for now - I just finished installing the rear window and will post more pics.
Thanks for looking
