have you left ALL the bolts slightly loose and then line it up and then tighten? Its amazing how much 1/4" can give you 3/4" else where   ;)

Hotrod, where isn't it lining up? The 73-80's were a lot more tough with the body lines. Loosen up the inner fender too or take it right out when you're trying to line up the fender.

Don't be surprised if you have to break out a porta power to get stuff to line up correct. Or just brute force, & ignorance!! ;D

Looks like you don't have it properly seated on the Radiator Support.. Try loosing or unbolting the front of the fender, then pick it up and shove it over to fully seat it on the support, then retighten or reinstall the bolts...

I have had to actually encourage the inside of the fender ( second pic. ) with a rubber mallet in the past to get it to tighten up to the support.

Actually the left, & right hood lines should be what determin how far in the fender is. Not going to do a whole lot of good if you force it to fit like the third pic, & then when you shut the hood it comes down on top of the fender. In theory it should be close or the same as the third pic. But if the hood fits I would leave it alone. the gap between the fender, & hood shouldn't be much bigger than 1/8".

Looks like it. Does the hood lines match? If the hood line gets bigger at the front on one side and smaller at the front on the other side the support needs to be moved over. That will still not make the fender get closer to the support though. Like I said a few posts back. I have actually taken a rubber mallet and massaged the inside of the fender to get the gap to close up.

I have no idea what the problem is, as I am not there. You need to access the situation and make a determination using my and others input. several posts now and I still don't know if your hood lines are right or wrong?? I don't know how else to explain it to you except if the hood lines up good why are we even concerned about how close the top lip of the fender is to the core support?
I was just stating that in the past when I have had issues with the fenders being to far away from one another, hence making the hood gaps to wide. I have used one for lack of other words, bash the inside of the fender in along the mount area to the core support to get the two of them closer together. Please don't use anything on anything until you know if the hood lines up or not.

Did it latch before you took the old fender off? Is it the latch? How are the body lines off? Which way?
