You can still get the switch from GM. Check the local dealership before you go removing the "other" tank and have to remove/reroute the hoses, etc.

Hot rod, if you wanted to run 2 tanks you could mount a switch just about anywhere you want too. Look under the dash to see if the tank switch harness is there. Is the tank switching valve installed between the two tanks?

Dusty,
make life simple, tear that truck down to a bare cab, take everything and i mean everything off, the front clip, the bed, the doors, the electricial EVERYTHING and start over from scratch.Buying a truck in the condition yours is in i say start from the ground up.You`ll be chasing them gremlins for a long time unless you start from a clean slate.Take all the bolts, put them in bags, label them and put them in a box where you know they`ll be in.Same goes for the harness, label every connection and go from there.I say replace that harness and go with a painless performance harness.

thanks

Use the one on the passenger side, You just need the hose to to connect to the tank and original lines.

Because the fuel lines run down the pasenger side. Make it eisier to hook up the tank instead of running mor eline to the other side.

Back up a few feet and snap the pic again, and get a pic of the gas valve just infront of the xmember at the bottom of the photo, that is if it there. It's on the pass side. What is there does not look stock and need to see more. That is not a good place for the filter, it needs to be downstream of the fuel pump, near the carb.

EDIT** I just remembered that the xmember I am talking about is under the cab (my cab was off when I rerouted mine)

Just dump the gas in the filter, if you have to. But why do you need to? You could put it in your lawnmower.
