Your talking in the engine compartment? Could have unbolted the connector and removed just the front light harness connector (the middle one)

My 75 two headlight harness mated right up to my new 84 cab's connector.

If that is your cluster, you have Gauges.  I would tell them you have the brake warning light in the bottom right just to let them know.

Hotrod, The wiring would be different to work a gauge than having a warning lamp come on signaled from a sending unit, just as the sending units themselves are different. Also the placement of the pins on the plug going into the circuit board are different because of the different placement of the warning lights & Brake light, ect. as was mentioned.   Lorne

If they sell you a factory harness (assuming you are buying a harness that matches the truck with that cluster matching the truck also) it should work.
What year is the truck?
What year is the harness you plan to order for?
What year is that cluster from?

76-77 is the same (mech oil sender) is that what the cluster is?
78-up is the same (all electrical)

Are you getting the complete harness?

How much is that going to cost you?  If you do that and want to use that cluster, get one for a 77...

Last time I checked a Painless system was cheaper...
